This recipe is inspired by tacos, one of my favorite weeknight meals. I love the juicy ground beef, savory black beans, and spicy jalapeños, but I hate the number of dishes it creates!
With this recipe, everything is made in just one pan, making cleanup super simple.
This recipe is perfect for meal prepping to eat throughout the week, or a great way to feed a crowd.
Easy One Pan Taco Skillet Recipe Ingredients
Let’s walk through the ingredients for this recipe.
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 white onion, chopped
- 1 red pepper, chopped
- 2 jalapeños, chopped
- 1 can black beans, drained
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Pinch of salt and pepper
- 1 cup Shullsburg Shredded Cheddar Cheese
- Lime slices, for serving
- ½ cup diced cilantro, for serving
- 1 sliced avocado, for serving
- 1 Pairie Farms Sour Cream Pouches, for serving
You may also add in any other veggies or beans that you have on hand. Additionally, you can use ground chicken, turkey, or pork instead of beef.
Recipe Instructions
First, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. You want the oil to be shimmering before you add the beef to the pan. Once shimmering, add the beef and cook for 3 minutes.
Next, add the onions, red pepper, jalapeños to the pan. Sauté for 5 minutes or until the vegetables are soft. Add black beans and spices to the skillet and mix well. At this point, your kitchen should be smelling amazing!
Reduce heat to low and top with shredded cheddar cheese. Cover until cheese is melted. Garnish with lime slices, cilantro, avocado, and Prairie Farms Sour Cream.
Substitutions
If you don't like or cannot find a certain ingredient, here are some substitutions that are available for this recipe.
Ground Beef – You can substitute ground beef for any other kind of ground meat, plant-based meat, or even tofu. Just make sure you have a pound of your protein to the recipe.
Additional Vegetables – If you don’t have an ingredient on hand, you can add just about any of your favorite vegetables to this recipe. Any kind of pepper, corn, or tomatoes are just a few ideas.
Cilantro – If you don’t enjoy cilantro, you may omit it from the recipe or swap it out with Italian Parsley or any other fresh herb that you enjoy.
