    Expert Tips and Tricks

Here are some expert tips to make this delicious lemon pepper salmon:

Use a thermometer - Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of your salmon. Salmon is considered cooked at 145F. Be sure to insert the thermometer in the thickest part of the salmon to get a proper temperature reading.

Complete the meal - Serve this baked salmon with a big salad, garlic bread, green beans, white rice, and a glass of white wine!

Add some veggies - Add some veggies to the baking sheet to roast alongside the salmon in the oven.

    Recipe Substitutions/Variations

Here are some common recipe substitutions and variations for this salmon recipe.

Salmon - Instead of one large salmon filet, you can use individually cut portions of salmon. Prepare them as the recipe instructs and just adjust cooking time, if needed, making sure to cook to an internal temperature of 145°F. Additionally, you can use any kind of salmon you like - wild salmon or farmed salmon both work in this recipe.

Seasonings - Feel free to try out any other seasonings you might have at home like onion powder or cayenne pepper. You can swap them in for the lemon pepper seasoning and prepare the recipe the same!

Lemon - Add lemon zest from a lemon to the lemon pepper mixture for an even zestier flavor!

    Frequently Asked Questions

Should I use salmon filets with skin or without skin?

You can use salmon that has skin or you can use skinless salmon filets. When you place it on the baking sheet, place it skin side down. After baking, the skin is really easy to remove. You can remove it before serving or serve it as is.

How do I know when salmon is done?

The best way to know when the salmon is done cooking is to use a thermometer. If you do not have a thermometer, you can tell salmon is done when it flakes easily with a fork and is opaque in the center.

Can I bake salmon on something besides a baking sheet?

Yes. This recipe would work just as well in a baking dish, cast iron skillet or a broiler pan. Just be sure you are using something that is oven safe!
