  • 1 lb Spaghetti
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup chopped Italian parsley


  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook spaghetti until al dente, about 7-8 minutes. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water and drain. Set spaghetti aside.
  • While spaghetti is cooking, heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat. When butter is melted, garlic, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes to the skillet. Cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  • Add lemon juice and lemon zest to the pan. Reduce heat to low.
  • Add cooked spaghetti and reserved pasta water. Toss until evenly coated with sauce. Top with grated parmesan and Italian parsley and serve.
