Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add Italian sausage and cook for 8-10 minutes, until browned.
Add cooked sausage, carrots, celery, garlic, thyme, rosemary, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and chicken broth to the slow cooker. Cover and cook on high for 3 hours, or until vegetables are tender.
Add tortellini and cook for 10-12 minutes, until tender.
Add heavy cream and kale and stir well. Serve immediately.
