Pat salmon steaks dry. Rub with olive oil and place on a lined baking tray.
Combine salt, black pepper, garlic, onion powder, and chili powder in a small bowl. Rub spice blend on both sides.
Bake salmon steaks for 12 minutes. Top with fresh basil and serve.
