Cook pasta according to package directions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup pasta water before draining.
While pasta is cooking, pat shrimp dry and season both sides with salt and pepper.
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add olive oil and white onion. Cook until onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
Add shrimp, garlic, and red pepper flakes to the pan. Cook shrimp 3-4 minutes per side, until pink.
Add white wine to the pan. Stir until wine is reduced, then add butter and drained pasta. Toss to combine and add ¼ cup of pasta water to the pan. Toss, top with parmesan cheese and fresh herbs and serve.
