cup
extra virgin olive oil
1
white onion
diced
4
cloves
garlic
minced

28 oz
cans San Marzano tomatoes
2
teaspoons
dried oregano
1
teaspoon
salt
1
teaspoon
black pepper
Fresh basil or Italian parsley
for serving
Instructions
Heat a large pot over medium heat. Add olive oil and onion and sauté for 5 minutes, until translucent.
Add in garlic and sauté another minute. Add San Marzano tomatoes, including liquid, into the pot. Add oregano, salt, and black pepper.
Reduce heat to low and cover. Simmer on low heat for at least one hour.
Use an immersion blender to break up tomatoes and smooth the sauce. Top with fresh basil and serve.
