About Tasting with Tina
Tasting with Tina is a blog where you'll find simple but gourmet dishes that will impress all of your friends and family. If you're like me, you love a beautiful plate of food, but don't want to cook dinner for three hours.
My recipes will help level-up your cooking, from taste to presentation! My goal is to make dinnertime exciting again for you and your family.
Why I started a blog
I started this blog to share my passion for food with the world. I've been passionate about food for my entire life - even as a young girl, my first question when I woke up was: "what's for dinner?"
In high school, I worked in a restaurant and fell in love with the restaurant industry. I worked almost every job in the restaurant - ironically, except for a cook. I loved being able to connect with people over food and learn about how restaurants operate and serve their customers.
In college, I began to cook more and discovered meal prepping. I loved the ease of throwing some pans of chicken and veggies in the oven, making some rice, and having all of my lunches ready for the week. I also started making more crock pot recipes, and earned my "Chef Tina" nickname.
As an adult, that initial curiosity of what's for dinner has only gotten stronger. But as time goes on, the more I realize that most of the reason that I love food and cooking is the sense of community and family that it builds.
Food enables us to have large gatherings, important conversations, and plenty of laughter - all with family and friends. Food brings us together. And at the end of the day, that's what it's all about.
“Your body is not a temple, it’s an amusement park. Enjoy the ride.”
Anthony Bourdain
I love this quote by Anthony Bourdain and try to live it every day. I truly believe we were all put on earth to make deeper connections with each other, and I make these connections best through food.
When I was going through marriage preparation with my husband, our priest asked us: "what's your favorite thing to do together?"
We both looked at each other and said "eat" at the same time. We laughed, but after reflecting on it, cooking and eating together has allowed us to come together and strengthen our relationship when we needed it the most.
I'm a food and wine lover turned recipe developer. Most of all, I want you to help people discover easy recipes and delicious food.
With simple recipes and fresh ingredients, you can create incredible meals full of good food and great company.
On this site, you'll find recipes, restaurant reviews and recommendations, and tips & tricks to be the best cook you can be. Thanks for coming along on the ride, I'm excited for what we'll cook together.
Food & Family
I grew up in a huge family - I have over 30 first cousins! I grew up living very close to a lot of my family, and my parents still live right down the street from my aunt and uncle today.
Having a big family really shaped my love for food. Every time my family got together, we had to make a lot of food - and it had to be good!
With a European background with mostly Italian influences, you'd always find pasta, meatballs, and fresh bread at our house. Making food for my family was one of my favorite things to do growing up, and I still love cooking for my big crazy family today.
My husband fits right in to all of this. We have been together since we were in high school, so he has known everyone for a very long time.
More about my husband - he is the funniest, most patient, and kind person I know. I'm so lucky to have him as a partner and official taste tester of Tasting with Tina.
